Scientists have found an exoplanet on which it rains from molten iron – Snob

According to the publication, on the day side of this super-hot giant planet, the temperature exceeds 2.4 thousand degrees Celsius. This is enough for the evaporation of metals. A strong wind carries iron vapors to the cold night side, where they turn into iron drops.

“We can say that on this planet it’s rainy evenings, it’s just rain there,” said David Ehrenreich, head of the study, professor at the University of Geneva at Switzerland.

What else is known:

This phenomenon occurs because the exoplanet is always facing its mother star with one “day” side, and its “night” side is immersed in eternal darkness, like the Moon, which is in the same way connected with the Earth. The temperature on the “night” side of the WASP-76b is approximately 1.5 thousand degrees Celsius.
