Scientists from Novosibirsk from the Institute of Chemical Biology and Fundamental Medicine have developed a combined method for the determination of influenza viruses H1N1 and SARS-CoV-2. The test result can be obtained in just an hour, and no expensive equipment is required for this.
Experts note that the PCR analysis, which is now widely used, does not allow obtaining a result in less than 1.5-3 hours of diagnosis and involves the use of expensive equipment. Scientists from Novosibirsk have found another way – faster and cheaper.

The method developed at the ICBFM is a combination of isothermal amplification and genomic editing; it does not require complex installations and allows analysis in just an hour. The reaction contains a specially selected third-party RNA labeled with an organic compound – a fluorophore. When it is cleaved, the very specific signal (glow) of a test tube containing viral RNA appears.
