School Closures and Chaos as Heavy Snow Hits Southern and Eastern Norway

It reports Tønsbergs Blad.

Parents and pupils must have already received notice from the school, the newspaper says.

The headmaster at Kirkevoll school writes that it will be arranged for all pupils to be taught on Teams, where it can be done.

– The pupils who are already at school and on their way to school will be looked after here. The weather creates such chaotic conditions on the road that we imagine the buses will struggle to pick up students, writes headmaster Rikke Lillebø.

Pupils at Revetal secondary school have also been asked to stay at home.

– Today the school is closed due to the snow chaos. Don’t come to school! There will be self-employment with subjects at home, send a message to your subject teachers if you have any questions, says the message that Tønsbergs Blad has received from a student from Revetal secondary school.

Heavy snow

Early on Wednesday morning, heavy snow was reported in both Southern Norway and Eastern Norway. It is also expected that the wind will increase further.

Just before 08:00, Ruter’s press officer, Cathrine Myhren-Haugen, states that there are challenging driving conditions and slippery roads in several places in Ruter’s area in Oslo and Akershus.

– There are both delays and canceled departures, and travelers must allow plenty of time, she says.

Bane NOR has asked all employees who actually have time off to participate in the work to deal with the snow chaos on Wednesday and night to Thursday, they write in a press release.
