Residents of the Stavropol village of Kochubeevskoye staged a gathering at the police station demanding to hand over a 16-year-old teenager to them, knocked down to death a 15-year-old girl by car and escaped from the accident scene. The moment of the accident was captured by a surveillance camera.
The road accident happened at about 10 am on August 13 on Titov Street. The footage shows that young people, who, due to their age, cannot have a driver’s license, staged an impromptu race on the roadway. One of them cut off the second, as a result, the car flew into the parking lot and hit the schoolgirl. The girl died before the arrival of the doctors.
The hiding driver was quickly detained, as it turned out, he was from the Roma community, to which the villagers had many questions in recent years. In the evening, several dozen people gathered at the police station, demanding a fair investigation or handing over the suspect to them. The governor of the Stavropol Territory had to intervene in the matter.
“I understand the feelings of the villagers. They are transmitted by video frames that are sent to me now via direct. I fully share the indignation and pain that overwhelm those who are now on the street. This is a request for justice, I fully support it,” Vladimir Vladimirov stressed
His deputy has already arrived in the village. Investigators intend to petition for the arrest of a teenager who is accused of violating traffic rules that led to the death of the victim. He himself said that he was scared after the accident, and therefore ran away.
