The Council for the observation of the rules of ethics and deontology in the media (CORED), organized this Wednesday, June 22, a meeting of exchanges and sharing. An appointment which is held every two months, on each of the previous occasions, very favorable topical themes have been chosen.
For this occasion, it was a question of discussing the media treatment of news items. A question that is more than important if we stick to the words of Mamadou Thior, the president of Cored.
For him, therefore, many journalists cross the line by informing without condemning. “Even if he is a witness to the facts, isn’t the journalist able to support the guilt of the person”, stipulates the latter.
This is probably explained by the secretary general of the Union of Senegalese magistrates, Youssouph Ndiaye, who thinks that journalists must be accompanied in the treatment of news items.
Thus, Cored promises to take all necessary measures to deal with non-compliance with the requirements in the treatment of miscellaneous facts.
