Bitter for FC Schalke 04: Because in times of crisis you can’t even rely on world star Cristiano Ronaldo. The royal blues are now missing a sum in the millions.

FC Schalke 04: S04 misses additional payment for Weston Mckennie because of Cristiano Ronaldo
The 3-2 home win by Juventus Turin against FC Porto was not enough for the old lady to advance. In the first leg, FC Porto won 2-1 at home. One or two Schalke fans should have watched the Champions League second leg between Juventus Turin and FC Porto (Tuesday, March 9th) with great interest.
Because teammate of the Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo is the ex-S04 player Weston Mckennie (22). If Juventus Turin progressed, the squires would now have received an additional payment from the Italian record champions.

The additional payment of 1.25 million euros from Juventus Turin would have looked good to FC Schalke 04. This would only have been transferred if the Italians had reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Weston McKennie was loaned to Turin by Schalke at the beginning of the 2020/21 season. At the beginning of March, the S04 announced the commitment of the Englishman to Juve. His contract runs there until 2025. S04 midfielder Omar Mascarell (28) has now also announced his wish to change – and revealed his dream goal.
For ex-Schalke player Weston McKennie, the S04 could still get money – but Juve must achieve success for it.

S04: Transfer of Weston McKennie as a welcome source of income at FC Schalke 04
At Schalke, the transfer was seen as a welcome source of income. The club received 18.5 million euros. “The fact that Juventus Turin prefers the transfer and that Weston McKennie is already permanently committed gives us greater planning security with a view to the new season,” said S04 CFO Christina Rühl-Hamers (44) on the club’s website.
In the course of this deal, it was also agreed that FC Schalke 04 would receive money if Juventus Turin had progressed. Some S04 fans are likely to be mad at the world star Cristiano Ronaldo. Because this contributed a large part to the elimination.

CR7 turned away from Sergio Oliveira (28), who led to 2-2, when Juve took a 2-1 lead on the free kick. The ball went through the legs of the Portuguese. Nevertheless: some Schalke players will probably rightly ask themselves how it can be that Juventus Turin of all places is eliminated in extra time despite the majority in their own stadium? After all, the Italians are the epitome of ripped-off results-oriented successful football and actually always historically got the results they needed. As I said, there is a lot going on at the Schalke Market these days.
