Savannah Guthrie’s New Book Targeted by Scammers Selling Fake Copies

Scammers Target Savannah Guthrie’s Best-Seller “Mostly What God Does”

Guthrie’s New Book Sparks Scammers Selling Fake Copies and Workbooks

The “Today” anchor, Savannah Guthrie, has achieved incredible success with her recently released book, “Mostly What God Does,” which quickly sold out and even crashed Amazon’s “buy” button. However, this popularity has attracted scammers who are attempting to capitalize on the book’s success by selling imitation copies and workbooks.

Guthrie first became aware of the deception when her own mother alerted her to the existence of fake copies. She expressed her disbelief and warned her fans, “I couldn’t believe it. My mom sent it to me, and it says it’s a ‘workbook’ and it’s even yellow like the color of the [real] book. But I didn’t write any workbooks, so don’t buy them!”

Damon Reiss, Guthrie’s publisher at Harper Collins’ imprint W Publishing Group, explained that it’s not uncommon for scammers to appear after a book quickly rises to the top. Reiss stated, “When a book hits No. 1 as fast as Savannah’s did, third-party sellers will often create fake books.”

Publisher Takes Action

Fortunately, Guthrie’s publisher promptly removed the counterfeit publications from Amazon. Although the book and workbooks were listed for sale, some were easily identifiable due to incorrect spelling, including Guthrie’s name.

As scammers attempted to profit from the popularity of “Mostly What God Does,” Savannah Guthrie’s devoted fans were eager to support her. Together with her colleagues from “Today,” including Hoda Kotb, Jenna Bush Hager, Sheinelle Jones, Willie Geist, and Laura Jarrett, they celebrated the success of her book at New York’s Chelsea neighborhood.

The Power of Faith

Savannah Guthrie expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming response to her book, particularly the positive engagement regarding faith. She shared, “The reception has kind of surprised and shocked and delighted me. I was really scared to put myself out there in this way. I still am in a lot of ways.”

Guthrie also acknowledged the longing for deeper connections among people, making her a proud contributor to this important conversation. She confessed, “People want to talk about faith. They want to talk and have deeper connections, and I’m so glad to be a part of that.”

Celebrating a Momentous Occasion

During the book party, Guthrie’s colleagues from the media industry, including Deborah Roberts, Diane Sawyer, Lester Holt, Poppy Harlow, Stephanie Ruhle, and Arianna Huffington, joined the festivities. Attendee Antonio Delgado, the lieutenant governor of New York, further enhanced the celebration.

Savannah Guthrie’s incredible success continues to captivate her dedicated readers, even in the face of scammers attempting to taint her achievements. With her faith-driven book reaching the top, Guthrie’s authenticity and the longing for deeper connections continue to resonate with readers across the globe.
