“Honor dates, honor bread, and do not buy more than you need, and if you do not consume them, leave them on the shelves and do not buy them, or give them in charity or be economical in buying quantities. Let us know that in order to produce one kilo of dates or one kilo of wheat, we need a thousand liters of water (+-300) during the season.” One agricultural package (meaning approximately a thousand water bottles with a capacity of one and a half liters to produce a kilo of dates or a kilo of flour and wheat). So fear God and do not be extravagant and leave it in its container and do not waste it or give it in charity.”

This call comes in light of the increasing phenomenon of waste in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, especially in light of the rise in food prices.

Dr. Al-Khudairi urged the need to be aware of the importance of water and its preservation, especially in light of the scarcity of water resources in the Kingdom.

Dr. Al-Khudairi called for giving in charity the excess food supplies or not buying them instead of wasting them.

Many social media users interacted with Dr. Al-Khudairi’s tweet, supporting his call to honor dates and bread and not to be wasteful.
