‘Sanju is a big hitter; I thought I’d play in my place’ – Sanju Samson | Maneesh Pandey

New Delhi – Indian cricketer Manish Pandey has reacted to Sanju Samson’s denial of an opportunity. Manish Pandey stated that Sanju is batting well and wanted him to play instead of him in the Indian team.

Sanju Samson is a good player. He has matches and he proved it by playing with them. Sanju was supposed to replace me in the Indian team. But I can understand Sanju’s current situation in the Indian team. I even had to sit on the bench a couple of times like this.

You may feel bad about it. But everything should be taken in the spirit of competition. We have to adapt to the needs of the team. But now I don’t think about it, it will negatively affect me and my games. I only think about the present. If I get the chance, I want to prove it by playing well.’- Manish said. If Sanju was included in the squad for the one-off series against New Zealand, he didn’t get a chance to play a single game.

Manish, who has been playing for the Indian team since 2016, has played 29 ODIs and 39 Twenty20 matches so far. Manish, who played at number three, rarely got a chance to bat in this position. Due to lack of consistency in runs scored and poor strike rate, the player did not get enough opportunities in the limited over format and was subsequently dropped from the team. Manish Pandey played his last Twenty20 international match in 2020. The bat was taken for his last ODI match in 2021.

English summary: Sanju Samson was batting well, thought he should play for me: Indian batsman Manish Pandey
