Three years after the inauguration of the model neighborhood “San Francisco”, located in Zeballos Cue, the residents denounce that in one of the monoblocks, which has three floors, there are problems with the plumbing system. Around 10 homes reported that the drains produce losses, although they clarified that many families would join the complaints.

Edita Vázquez, one of the residents of the H-9 block, commented that – practically – since she moved to the community neighborhood she has to be placing buckets under the leaks so that her environment is not humid. He added that leaks in the plumbing system even lead to cracks in the ceiling.
“In my house, since we moved in, it always leaks from the upper bathroom to the ceiling. It tells him that after a month he already began to pierce the ceiling. In my bathroom I have a bucket to drip someone else’s shower above. When you are taking a bath you have to take care of the top because, if not, the dirty water will drip, “he said.
He said that they need a permanent solution to the problem, as they indicate that it is uncomfortable for the residents of lower floors to live in an environment of constant humidity. He also clarified that although maintenance officials make arrangements, after several days the leaks reappear.
“They come to help solve it apparently, but it leaks again and it always is. When you tell another neighbor, they tell you that they are going through the same thing, “he said.
In the same vein, Vázquez said that, despite constant complaints, there was never communication with those affected by those in charge of the model neighborhood.
The resident of the housing complex also pointed out that she has a double cleaning job every day, since they must be aware of their own house and the upper part. Likewise, he affirmed that -even- they must remain on alert, since lavatory equipment fell from the floors above in the homes of their neighbors.

On the other hand, Vázquez indicated that another problem they suffer is related to the drainage system. He mentioned that during the rains they tend to fill up and do not fulfill their function, so the gutters are usually stagnant with sewage.
The “Barrio San Francisco” housing complex was built with resources from the Itaipu Binacional to provide social housing to more than 1,000 families who lived in various bathed areas in Asunción and shelters in Zeballos Cue. More than US $ 50,000,000 was allocated to the work, but since its inauguration, residents have been reporting irregularities in the structures.
