– It has been confirmed that Samsung will support the S Pen for the’Galaxy S21′ (tentative name) to be released in January next year. It is through a radio wave certification document recently released by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The S Pen, which was first attempted on the Galaxy Note in September 2011, is a feature that has become the only identity of Samsung smartphones.

– According to FCC documents released by US tech media Android Authority and The Verge on the 24th (local time), Samsung Electronics tested the application of the S Pen function during the radio wave certification process of the Galaxy S21 Ultra (high-end model). It was also found that it supports a’hover’ mode that allows users to preview photos and texts with the S Pen without touching the screen directly.

– The S Pen, which can be used on the S21 Ultra, is sold separately from the notebook. There is no storage space (slot) inside the smartphone. It is a form that is stored separately like the’Apple Pencil’ used in Apple’s tablet’iPad’. Samsung Electronics plans to sell a separate case for storing the S Pen for about 30,000 won. In some markets, including Korea, there is also a possibility that it will be offered as a free gift (bundle) to pre-order buyers.
On the 16th, Noh Tae-moon, head of Samsung Electronics’ wireless business division (president), said, “We plan to expand and apply the Galaxy Note experience that consumers use the most to more products.” Samsung is currently developing not only the Galaxy S series, but also foldable phones to use the S Pen.
It is highly likely to be released on January 14 next year along with sibling models (Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus) called Galaxy S21 Ultra with S Pen. Advance reservations are accepted for a week after release, and official release is most likely on the 29th of the same month.
