Samsung website shows external Samsung T7-ssd without fingerprint scanner – Computer – News

The specifications of the external Samsung T7-ssd without fingerprint scanner have been published on the Canadian website of Samsung. The SSD will be available in variants with 500GB, 1TB or 2TB of storage capacity. The recommended retail prices are not listed.

Samsung already announced an external during CES in January Samsung T7 Touch SSD with fingerprint scanner on. Then the manufacturer already reported that a variant without a fingerprint scanner would also be released in the spring of 2020. This variant has now appeared on the Samsung Canada website. The external SSD is therefore expected to appear on the market very soon.

The specifications of the T7 are almost identical to those of the T7 Touch, apart from the fingerprint scanner, as was already announced at CES. The regular T7 will therefore be available in variants with 500GB, 1TB or 2TB of storage space. The ssd uses tlc-nand, with slc-nand for the cache, Hardware.info writes.

The T7 has a USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface with throughput rates of up to 10Gbit / s. The SSD itself must achieve maximum sequential read and write speeds of 1050MB / s and 1000MB / s respectively. The T7 is compatible with PC, Mac, Android devices, game consoles and ‘more’. According to Samsung, the SSD does not get warmer than 45 degrees Celsius during use.

Furthermore, the T7-ssd supports the encryption standard aes-256. Samsung provides associated software that allows users to set a password for the SSD. This program will be available on macOS, Windows and Android. The SSD comes in three different colors, namely blue, gray and red. The Samsung website does not yet mention delivery times and recommended prices. It is likely that these SSDs will be cheaper than the variants with fingerprint scanner.
