Samsung shows 4k monitor with 240Hz refresh rate and mini LED backlight during CES – Computer – News

Samsung has shared the first details of its Odyssey Neo G8 monitor. This screen will have a 4k resolution, a refresh rate of 240Hz and a backlight with mini LEDs. A suggested retail price or release date has not yet been announced; Samsung will share more information during CES.

Samsung shares the details in a press release on his South Korean website. There, the manufacturer writes that the screen will have a quantum dot panel with mini LED backlight. Thanks to the latter, according to Samsung, the screen achieves a peak brightness of 2000cd/m², just like the current one Odyssey Neo G9-‘superwidemonitor’. The screen will also have a diagonal of 32 “and a 1000R curvature. That is equal to the curvature of a circle with a radius of one meter.

The Odyssey Neo G8 would be the first 4k monitor with 240Hz refresh rate. The screen will be equipped with two HDMI 2.1 connections and a DisplayPort 1.4 connector, Samsung reports. HDMI 2.1 supports 4k240 display when display stream compression is deployed. DisplayPort 1.4 does not support 4k240.

The display also gains an Auto Source Switch+ feature, which allows the display to detect which input connection is being used and automatically switch to it source changes. Further details are not yet known. Samsung will officially show the screen during CES, between January 5 and 7. The manufacturer may also come up with a suggested retail price and release date.
