JAKARTA – Samsung has just released the latest book titled “The Next Hyper-Connected Experience for All” on Tuesday (07/14/2020). In the book Samsung explained that they were planning research that supports the creation of the 6G network by 2028.
This technology will be a far better version than the 5G network that has just been introduced for one year since 2019.
“While the commercialization of 5G is still in its early stages, it is never too early to start preparing 6G because it usually takes around 10 years from the start of research to commercialization of a new generation of communication technology,” said Head of the Center for Advanced Communication Research Sunghyun Choi, quoted from Samsung’s official website.
Further on this plan, Samsung explained that the latest 6G network technology will be used by both humans and machines. To realize this, the 6G technology network is planned to use the concept of digital twins. This concept allows users to explore and monitor reality in the virtual world from the real world, without temporal or spatial constraints.

“Users can even go beyond observation, and actually interact with digital twins, using VR devices or holographic displays. Digital twins can be a representation of a series of sensors and actuators that are controlled remotely. Although it looks amazing, this technology network has several conditions that must be met. A 6G network requires a peak data rate of 1,000 Gbs and air latency of less than 100 microseconds, which means 50 times the peak data speed and one-tenth of the latency that a 5G network has.
In addition to these two requirements, there are many other requirements needed by 6G to operate such as the terahertz frequency band (THz), the evolution of network topology, to various spectra, all of which are contained in Samsung’s books.
