Samsung requires two-step verification when logging in to account NOW

Samsung has made two-step verification mandatory when logging in to Samsung accounts. Sammobile saw the new security feature on Friday in an update of the Samsung Account app.

Two-step verification adds an extra layer of security to accounts. Users who log in to their Samsung account receive a message stating that they must activate the function. This is via sms. Users can then also use authentication apps for two-step verification.

Users who are already logged in to their accounts will not be asked to authenticate again after the update. But if they want to log in to a new device, they can only do that if they first activate the two-step verification.

Last month, Samsung was confronted with a small data breach that allowed some Samsung users to view data from other users in their account.

This first seemed to have to do with a push notification that Samsung to Galaxy phones sent. Users from all over the world received a message that only contained the number 1. It later turned out that the two incidents were not related to each other.
