In mid-January, Samsung introduced the new flagship smartphones of the Galaxy S24 series, which have improved in many areas compared to their predecessors – they have more modern hardware, newer software, and most importantly include a package of Galaxy AI functions using artificial intelligence. It is pleasing that the new features will not be limited to the existing model range, but will also arrive on selected older models. Samsung in the comparison published on his websitewhich phones will get the Galaxy AI package and what features they will get from it.
Galaxy AI will arrive on last year’s flags and puzzles
If you select any phone in the comparator, you will immediately receive an answer as to whether news using artificial intelligence will apply to it. What has been speculated for the past few weeks is confirmed – Galaxy AI will land on last year’s flexible Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 smartphones, as well as the entire Galaxy S23 model line.
The fancier Galaxy S23 FE with a weaker Exynos 2200 processor will not be ruled out, which is a rather controversial choice – the two-year-old flagships of the Galaxy S22 series can forget about the Galaxy AI functions, even though they are powered by the same chipset. In the same way, owners of Galaxy A series smartphones will have to wish for AI functions.
Circle search and generative image editing
And what AI functions will last year’s flagship and flexible Samsungs get? On its website, Samsung mentions all four main features that we know from the Galaxy S24 series:
- Circle to search – search by circling images on the screen
- Simultaneous translation – translation of calls, SMS and other content in real time
- Note assistant – summarizing texts into a shorter and clearer format
- Generative editing – advanced photo editing using artificial intelligence, for example to redraw content after removing or moving an object to another location
The models of the Galaxy S23 or Fold 5 and Flip 5 series will also receive Galaxy AI
Samsung states that all new products will be available “soon”, so owners of last year’s flagships will simply have to wait until the Korean giant releases the One UI update to version 6.1. The Galaxy AI feature pack is free, however Samsung is internally considering charging for some advanced features in the future.
