Salzburg confirm change from Seiwald to Leipzig

Nicolas Seiwald (FC Red Bull Salzburg player):
…about his move: “It happened relatively quickly. I would like to thank FC Red Bull Salzburg. I will give everything for the last half year. The club made it possible for me to go there and I’m going to Leipzig in the summer. This is a big step and a very important step for me. But I don’t put any pressure on myself. As I said, I’ll concentrate on Salzburg until the summer. But of course I want to prove myself there.”

…on Konrad Laimer’s successor: “It will be difficult to fill in Laimer’s footsteps. He’s a top player. But I’m coming there as a new player and I want to show what I can do.”

“He’s moving to an absolute top club in the summer now. I congratulate him on that because it’s an incredible career path that he’s embarked on.”

Christoph Freund (Sports Director FC Red Bull Salzburg)
…about Nicolas Seiwald: “He informed us that he had decided to move to Leipzig in the summer. He has a release clause so it’s his right. There have always been discussions with him, he is a boy from Salzburg and grew up here. He is now moving to an absolute top club in the summer. I congratulate him on that because it’s an incredible career path that he’s embarked on. When you see the role he’s played for us in recent years, it’s impressive. That is a very nice story for him.”

…about the transfer fee: “We don’t comment on transfer fees, but it’s a good transfer for us too. When we extended the contract, we agreed on an exit clause. That’s a fair story for all sides. It’s a good transfer for us and a great next step for him.”

…about the transfer policy: “No, there is no risk in going this route. We’ve done this over and over again. We are consistently going our own way and we will continue to do so in the future. I hope we can continue to produce talent like Nici. I really like the way from Salzburg.”
