In the duel between 1. FC Union Berlin and FC Bayern Munich (5:30 p.m. live on Sky Sport Bundesliga 1 HD), Austrian Markus Hoffmann made his debut as a coach. Due to the absence of Union coach Urs Fischer due to a death in the family, the native of Salzburg represents his head coach on the sidelines for the first time.
After the death of his father-in-law, Urs Fischer left the quarantine training camp in Barsinghausen on Monday to help his family in Berlin. Due to the strict corona measures, the 54-year-old can only return to the team after two negative tests for a possible COVID-19 infection.
Assistant coach Hoffmann has been at the side of the head coach since 2018. Today, together with fellow trainer Sebastian Bönig, he sits on the bank of Berlin for the first time in the function of a temporary coach.
