Business with protective masks in the Corona-Kise is booming. From January until the end of may sales and prices of breath – and mouth increased protection rapidly, as data from the market research company Nielsen shows. The strongest increase in sales, with almost 14.200 per cent, there was, therefore, when selling in wholesale. The price per mask there increased at an average rate of 509 per cent.
Also, the grocery and drugstore markets with nearly 8000 percent, a strong increase in turnover compared to the prior-year period, with price increases of approximately 254 percent.
“Masks have become the wind from the niche for special cases of application to the new everyday product,” said Bettina Arleth, trade expert at Nielsen, the German press Agency. The reason for the huge Plus is the availability in April, but the increase in price due to the high demand. The Mouth guard was used up to the Corona pandemic, especially of dust-ridden artisans or in the medical field – today, the world look quite different, said Arleth.
The slightest increase in sales were hardware stores (plus 99.3 percent). In comparison to the prior-year period, the average price fell even (minus 46.4 percent). This has to do, according to Nielsen, especially with the expansion of the range of simpler and hence cheaper protection masks. As a result, the average unit price decreased.
