As was the case last week, the situation remains stable at the unit Covid of the’hospital from Saint Nazaire (Loire-Atlantique), with a twenty hospitalized patients this Wednesday February 10, 2021. Four people are still in intensive care, including three intubated. The severe forms of the disease are therefore still present.
Two new carriers of a variant
For the first time, a hospitalized patient was a carrier of a variant of SARS-CoV-2. After analysis of the sample at the national reference center (CNR), it turns out that it is the English variant, the most common in France at present.

We will have to wait a few days before knowing their origin (s).
180 emergency visits per day
In addition, the activity remains very sustained in emergencies with more than 180 visits per day.
“This Wednesday at 2 pm, 45 patients were received simultaneously. We are not far from the alert threshold which is 50 ”
A situation that created a bottleneck in bed capacity since six patients were waiting for beds at the peak of attendance.
At the pedestrian drive, 1,250 PCR tests were carried out from 1is to February 7. The positivity rate rose very slightly to 5.4% from 4.4% the previous week. It is in the departmental average.
700 professionals vaccinated
At the end of last week, 700 health care professionals over 50 had received their first injection of Pfizer vaccine. That’s about 70% of the “target audience”. The vaccination campaign will gain momentum in the coming days with the arrival of the Astra-Zeneca vaccine.
“We received 400 doses this week. We started vaccination without age criteria today (Wednesday 10 February, Editor’s note) ”.
There are still nearly 2,500 professionals to be vaccinated throughout the health center.
