During this health crisis linked to Covid-19, all the municipalities played an important role during the confinement, through their initiatives to stay in contact with the population and in particular with isolated, elderly and precarious people.
The town of Saint-Amand is one of those who have spared no effort and work to meet the needs of the community.
La Marianne d’Or
The Marianne d’Or competition is a prize for excellence awarded to municipalities in France. This aims to reward local initiatives according to a chosen theme.
This award wishes to be offered so that each municipality becomes a reference on a national scale. The city of Saint-Amand had already received it in 2006 for the youth and in 2013 for the fraternity.
This time, she was rewarded on July 22 in Paris for her acts of solidarity and her actions taken during the health crisis.
What actions?
Elected officials went shopping for the elderly and a mask was distributed to residents door to door as soon as the crisis began.
Also, the agents as the elected municipal officials mobilized strongly (150 people) to maintain contact with the population, in particular to meet the standard, to bring 600 emergency packages for people in precarious situations.
The municipal team also brought the children’s homework to each family.
A crisis unit was opened in the agglomeration with a release of 1 million euros to help companies overcome this crisis.
In terms of sport and culture, sports educators and music teachers have offered courses via social networks.
Recognition
For the City, this award sounds like recognition for its investment and for the work done during this period.
The municipality welcomes this award, one more to hang on the prize list.
