Sacha Baron Cohen has been strong again this weekend. The actor known to have embodied the characters of Borat, Ali G, Brüno or Admiral-General Aladeen, still had a little pleasure by trapping participants in a demonstration close to the far right.
Known for his trick videos, the actor decided this time to pretend to be a singer of “Bluegrass”, (a country music style) during an event at Olympia near Seattle. It was actually a demonstration called “March for our rights” and which brings together pro-arms activists, close to far-right circles.
A concert disguised as a redneck
Even though he was well disguised with a red beard and overalls (see the video above), the Seattle Times reports that several participants in the demonstration assure that they were Sacha Baron Cohen.
A show of more than 8 minutes during which the British actor attacked all the themes which agitate the followers of conspiracy theses. Among these themes: Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Dr. Anthony Fauci, Bill Gates and the World Health Organization, with racist references to topics like “Wuhan flu”.
A joke that goes wrong for the organizers
A joke that did not please some participants in the rally. In another video (see below), we can see that protesters are yelling at the actor, calling him “racistThe organizers including the hoax tried to end the concert, but were blocked by security hired by Sacha Baron Cohen. The actor then fled in view of the anger of part of the crowd.
Allen Acosta, one of the organizers of the event, said that a few days earlier, he had been contacted by a group called “Back to Work USA”, who offered him financial assistance and security for the rally.
Sacha Baron Cohen has often satirically denounced the racism present in American society. This was already the case in particular with his character Borat.
