Ryan Reynolds finds out that he lives in an action video game – ČT24 – Czech Television

Living the quiet life of a bank clerk in the metropolis may be comfortable, but only until you are hit by a train trying to leave. But the next day, your life is back – as if nothing had happened. The protagonist (Ryan Reynolds) of the new film by American director Shawn Levy will experience this.

He decides to deal with the discovery that he lives in an online video game in a unique way. He joins forces with player Milly (Jodie Comer) and becomes an unpredictable sensation for the world. English title of the film Free Guy can be translated as “Free Guy”, due to the story but also as the motivational “Free Guy!”

Facing the Delete button

The film trailer generously shows many absurd situations that the hero finds himself in. After gaining the opportunity to collect weapons or first aid kits on the streets of the city, he takes justice into his own hands. The owners of the video game studio that created it will no longer like it. The hero and the whole city should be mercilessly deleted…

Thanks to the theme, well-known American YouTubeers are also to appear in the film. They will play Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, Imane “Pokimane” Anys or Lannan “LazarBeam” Eacott.

Director Shawn Levy started out as an actor in the 1980s, but gradually became a successful director of comedies and series. His first big hit was the film Twelve to a dozen (2003), in which Steven Martin played the father of twelve children. He subsequently produced and directed the trilogy Night at the museum (2006–2014), in which Ben Stiller struggles with animated exhibits. Between 2016 and 2019, he also directed some episodes of the sci-fi series Stranger Things.

Deadpool is looking for another job

Canadian Ryan Reynolds began acting as a teenager, eventually appearing in many comedies (Sexy party, 2002), but also in horror (3:15 you will die, 2005) or action thrillers (It’s fair, 2006).

His fame as a vulgar and fast-talking superhero in a comic book adaptation brought him world fame Deadpool (2016). He embodied this already in 2009 in the film X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but then he was not satisfied with her concept. Last year, his voice was heard in Czech cinemas, in which he spoke the character of Pikachu in the film. Pokémon: Detective Pikachu (2019).

The role of Milly, who protagonist in Free Guy helps, plays British Jodie Comer. Certainly the most significant role in her short career so far is the talented killer Villanelle from the series On the fly (2018–2020). She received an Emmy Award for this role and received a Golden Globe nomination.

Free Guy should arrive in Czech cinemas on December 10, 2020.
