Prime Minister Mark Rutte will also not sit with the PVV in a new cabinet. That said the VVD leader on Friday in the NOS radio program With A View To Tomorrow, after he already collaborated with Thierry Baudet’s Forum for Democracy (FVD) earlier this week ruled out.
Rutte did not give a reason why he does not want to work with the PVV. He only answered “no, still not”, to the question whether he still does not want to cooperate with the PVV.
Also in the previous elections in 2017, the PVV of Geert Wilders was for Rutte no option as a possible coalition partner. At the time, this was mainly in response to Wilder’s “less-less-statement” about Moroccans.
Wilders has on Twitter already responded to the new exclusion by the VVD. “Rutte therefore wants to go over the left”, he writes. “More immigration, more Islam, higher taxes, more unaffordable climate behavior. Only a large PVV can keep Ollongren, Klaver and associates out of the cabinet.”
Rutte: VVD is not moving to the left
The prime minister denies that his party is moving towards the left by excluding FVD and PVV. The current coalition of VVD, CDA, D66 and ChristenUnie is not a center-left cabinet, according to the prime minister.
In the radio interview, Rutte does not mention parties with which he would like to form a concrete coalition. Despite the fact that the VVD is doing well in the polls, he does not want to get ahead of things.
Rutte already ruled out a possible coalition with FVD on Wednesday. The reason for this was the leaked WhatsApp messages in which the top of that party makes racist statements.
