ANNOUNCEMENTS

In March, a unit of Russian paratroopers killed dozens on a single street in the Ukrainian city of Bocha. It happened on Jabloenska street. Which merge the New York Times using exclusive phone records, documents, interviews and thousands of hours of video. The road is now referred to by residents as the “road of death”.

In May of this year the same newspaper has already published images showing that Russian soldiers were allegedly involved in the executions.

The paper now concludes, after an eight-month investigation, that the perpetrators of the Jabloenska Street massacre were Russian paratroopers from the 234th Air Assault Regiment led by Lieutenant Colonel Artyom Gorodilov. Evidence includes equipment, uniform badges, radio traffic, and ammunition box documentation.

Stolen phones

Residents tell the newspaper that in many cases their mobile phones were immediately stolen. The phones of murdered civilians were also seized. Several military personnel also used those stolen phones.

According to the New York Times, data from Ukrainian authorities show that Russian soldiers used those phones to call relatives in Russia. This sometimes happened only hours after the death of the rightful owner. The newspaper then traced the telephone numbers called and was able to identify twenty soldiers in this way.
