Russian Navy Captain Krokhmal’s Burial in St. Petersburg: Boasting of Zircon Missile Accuracy and Missile Attacks on Ukraine

The captain of the Russian Navy previously boasted of the accuracy of Russian missiles, hitting exactly the entrance of a five-story building.

The former commander of the flagship of the Northern Fleet of the Russian Navy, Admiral Gorshkov, who promised to hit a five-story building with a Zircon missile, was buried in Russia. Russian media report this. The burial of Igor Krokhmal took place in the city of St. Petersburg – he died on December 22, 2023 at the age of 52.

Captain Krokhmal became widely known thanks to one of the reports on Russian television, where he stated that the frigate Admiral Gorshkov, which at that time was under his command, was capable of hitting a five-story building with a Zircon missile. During the 2 years of the war, the Russian military repeatedly received the status of terrorists by shooting at Ukrainian high-rise buildings in different cities of Ukraine. The collapse of multi-storey buildings after Russian missile attacks occurred in entire entrances.

“We see the entrance of a 5-story building and when we shoot, it flies exactly, at most into the next entrance,” – he said on air.

Krokhmal will no longer command missile attacks on Ukraine

Prior to this, Krokhmal was the commander of the nuclear-powered missile cruiser Peter the Great and the frigate Admiral Kasatonov.

The frigate Admiral Gorshkov, commanded by the deceased captain, became the first carrier of modern Zircon hypersonic missiles.

The 3M22 Zircon hypersonic missile was developed by NPO Mashinostroyenia for use with the 3S14 shipborne universal vertical launcher. The missile was officially adopted by the Russian Navy on January 4, 2023, with the admission of the frigate Admiral Gorshkov to the Northern Fleet.

Earlier, during a morning missile attack on Ukraine on February 7, 2024, the Russians used a Zircon hypersonic cruise missile. The missile was launched from the territory of the temporarily occupied peninsula towards Kyiv.

Earlier media wrote that RosTV accidentally announced the number of dead sailors on the Novocherkassk landing ship.
