The Soyuz vessel landed in Kazakhstan on Sunday night Norwegian time, with a Russian actor, director and cosmonaut on board.
During her stay on the ISS, Julia Peresild and Klim Sjipenko have recorded scenes for the first film to be made in space.
Seven other cosmonauts and astronauts, who are still on board the ISS, have been extras during the filming of the movie “The Challenge”.
The film is about a doctor, Peresild, who is rushed to the space station to rescue a cosmonaut who needs emergency treatment. That role is played by the experienced cosmonaut Oleg Novitsky, who also returned to Earth on Sunday night.
If everything goes according to plan, and the Russian film sees the light of day, there will be a feather in the cap over the American film industry.
Hollywood star Tom Cruise also plans to record a film on board the ISS, in collaboration with Nasa and Elon Musk’s SpaceX.
