This was revealed by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Friday (2/12/2022).
“US President Joe Biden’s request that talks will be possible only after (Russian President Vladimir) Putin leaves Ukraine is something Moscow will not agree to,” the official said.

“Special military operations continue. That said, President Putin is, is and will be open to contacts for talks. Of course, the best way to safeguard our interests is peaceful diplomacy,” Peskov said.
He was answering questions about remarks Biden made Thursday during a joint news conference with visiting French President Emmanuel Macron.
“I am ready to talk to Putin if it is in his interest to decide that he is looking for a way to end the war. He hasn’t done it yet,” the US leader said.

Biden said the only “way to end this war (is) a rational way: Putin withdraws from Ukraine.”
Peskov said Washington and Moscow currently have little room to negotiate on Ukraine.
