Russian gas monopoly Gazprom will stop gas supplies to Finland from May 21. About it informed Finnish gas company Gasum, citing a letter from Gazprom Export on Friday, May 20.

“Gazprom Export informed Gasum that natural gas supplies to Finland under the Gasum contract will be terminated on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 07:00,” the statement reads.

It is noted that from tomorrow, Gasum will supply gas to its consumers from sources through the Balticconnector pipeline. Gasum filling stations in the area of the gas network will continue to operate as usual.

“It is very unfortunate that the supply of natural gas under our supply contract will now be terminated. However, we have carefully prepared for this situation and provided that there are no failures in the gas transmission network, we will be able to provide all our consumers with gas in the coming months,” he said. Gasum President Mika Viljanen.

Earlier, Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin said that the country is ready quickly phase out Russian natural gas and oil. According to her, we are talking about weeks or months, not years.

It was also reported that in March Finland cut oil imports from Russia at 70%.

Recall that on April 27, Gazprom announced on the termination of gas supplies to Poland and Bulgaria. Countries did not want to pay for gas under the new mechanism proposed by Moscow. Thus, Russia is losing more and more customers in Europe.
