The United States has formed a grouping in Europe of 60,000 troops, 200 tanks and 150 combat aircraft. These figures were announced by Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Mikhail Popov, reports Russian newspaper on Wednesday, February 16th.
“Their main (the United States – ed.) goal in Europe is to create a constant threat to our country. For this, a significant grouping of the US armed forces has been formed in the region, numbering more than 60,000 military personnel, 200 tanks, and about 150 combat aircraft,” Popov said. .
According to him, over the past seven years, the number of US ground forces in Europe has increased by 30%, the number of armored vehicles – four times. In addition, tactical nuclear weapons are maintained in readiness for use, and the capabilities of the European segment of the US global missile defense system are being built up.
“Since 2014, the Pentagon has been implementing the anti-Russian program Deterrence of Aggression in Europe, which annually spends $4-5 billion from the US military budget,” Popov added.
As a reminder, on February 11, it became known that Pentagon to send 3,000 more paratroopers to Poland. The US is also moving F-16 fighter jets from Germany to Romania.
