Russia and Vietnam cooperate in cancer treatment with proton radiotherapy | Health

Hanoi (VNA) – Representatives of Vietnam and the Russian Federation signed a memorandum of understanding on November 10 to establish the Russia-Vietnam Biomedical Science and Technology Research Center.

This project concerns a cooperation in proton radiotherapy in the treatment of cancer.

The signing ceremony took place at the Business Forum on Trade Development and Economic Cooperation between the City of St. Petersburg and the Provinces of Vietnam, within the framework of the 14th St. Petersburg International Innovation Forum.

The signing ceremony saw the participation, among others, of Professor, Doctor of Science Trân Dai Lâm, Director of the Institute of Tropical Technology of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the ‘Sergei Berezin Medical Institute (MIBS) in St. Petersburg, Arkady Stolpner and the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the City of St. Petersburg, Evgeny Grigoriev.

The Russia – Vietnam Biomedical Science and Technology Research Center will be the ideal location for cancer research, diagnosis and treatment, creating a premise for the implementation of this cancer treatment hospital trial model. by proton radiotherapy in Vietnam.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Prof. Trân Dai Lâm said that this is a high-tech content project. This is a first step, opening up a new perspective of cooperation with Russia, for Vietnam to become a cancer treatment center in Southeast Asia.

He also pointed out that the project will contribute to the fight against cancer in Vietnam with high efficiency and reasonable cost in terms of using the most advanced technologies.

After the signing ceremony, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Medical Institute, Sergei Berezin (MIBS), announced that each year, MIBS will bring 3 Vietnamese children for free cancer treatment.
