RTVS Sport will start today: What will broadcast, where will you tune in to the station and what its budget is

Today, the Slovak Radio and Television expanded its offer with the sports program Šport. The broadcast started today at 5 pm and right from the start the station can be tuned by a large number of spectators.

The broadcaster is renewing the project of the sports program after more than ten years – originally the sports Troika stopped broadcasting in 2011 due to lack of funds.

Slovak athletes or the Olympics

The Olympic Games in Beijing, the Ice Hockey World Championships in Finland, the Football World Championships in Qatar, the Ski World Cup with Petra Vlhová, several cycling races with Peter Sagan, the Biathlon World Cup with the Fialk sisters will be broadcast at Šport. The WTA Tennis Tour, the European and European Conference League, the League of Nations and the Tipos Extraliga, the Under-20 World Championships and the Tour de France will also be broadcast.

RTVS for station Sport also acquired highlighting rights to the Champions League, La Liga, Bundesliga and Serie A. It broadcasts 83 highlights from the Champions League, 95 magazines from La Liga as well as 95 magazines from Serie A and 85 magazines from the Bundesliga. The three remaining competitions will also be highlights – albeit in the form of a magazine.

Sports such as futsal, handball, volleyball, basketball, swimming, gymnastics, figure skating, water polo and more are also scheduled to appear on the air. RTVS Sport will broadcast non-stop and the television states that it will also bring dynamic sports news. During the day, he wants to provide an overview of current events.

For all operators

The channel will be available in HD quality in terrestrial DVB-T broadcasting right from the start, even twice – in different image compression standards. It will be distributed in the public multiplex (software package) in the MPEG-4 codec and in multiplex 1 also in the modern HEVC codec.

It will also appear in the offer of operators Telekom, Orange, UPC, Skylink, Digi Slovakia, Antik, Satro, Swan, freeSAT, DSi Data, Better TV, O2 TV, Kuki TV, Isper, Sledovanie TV, Martico and others. All operators will add a station in HD, with the exception of freeSAT, where it will be in SD quality.

Annual budget EUR 11 million

We also talked about the plans and future of the sports program with the head of RTVS sports, Matej Hajk.

He said that viewers do not have to worry that the 4th circuit would have nothing to broadcast. He describes that the sports channel will become a permanent part of the group of public service broadcasters. The station’s annual budget in 2022 is at the level of 11 million euros.

There have been changes in DVB-T

Due to the start of Sports terrestrial broadcasting has changed when propagating stations. One week ago, the distribution of stations in the older MPEG-2 video codec was turned off.
