RSHS Bandung Oxygen Consumption Soars, Supply Reduces

Bandung, CNN Indonesia

The use of medical oxygen at Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) Bandung, West Java, tripled following a surge in positive cases Covid-19 that happened in the last month.

“If we look at it, oxygen consumption is now three times more than usual,” said Acting Director of RSHS Irayanti in a video caption, Monday (5/7).

RSHS Bandung itself is a national referral hospital for Covid-19 patients. So far, the RSHS relies on oxygen supply from the Aneka Gas company.

Irayanti said the supplier still promised the availability of medical oxygen. However, this time the oxygen cylinder could only come once a day. In addition, RSHS had to go to the manufacturers to get new tubes.

“For the oxygen cylinders, we also have to pick them up to Aneka Gas’s place for filling because they are unable or lacking personnel to deliver gas to our hospital,” he said.

“Until now it is still being fulfilled, hopefully as we know RSHS is the highest referral hospital in West Java, so we hope that Aneka Gas will continue to supply it,” he added.

Meanwhile, in terms of bed occupancy for Covid-19 patients, RSHS Bandung currently has reached 92.3 percent. As of 5 July 2021, 265 of the 287 available beds have been occupied.

“Indeed, the number of beds for Covid-19 patients at the RSHS is very large, so approximately 92 percent of the beds have been filled. Including the ICU and isolation rooms,” said Irayanti.

Irayanti added that currently there are 83 people who are being treated in the ER isolation. They are still waiting before being transferred to the isolation room or if conditions require further treatment, they will be placed in the ICU.

“This morning we received information that there were still patients queuing up at the ER,” he said.
