NEW YORK (dpa-AFX) – Before the minutes of the US Federal Reserve were published, the New York stock indices moved very little in early Wednesday trading. The leading index Dow Jones Industrial made little progress with plus 0.04 percent to 33,445.25 points, as did the market-wide S&P 500 with plus 0.02 percent to 4,074.83 points. However, both indices remain close to their record highs. The technology-heavy Nasdaq 100 was also barely changed, up 0.04 percent to 13,583.36 points.
The minutes of the latest Fed meeting could add some movement to the late equity business. According to the analyst Stephen Innes from the broker Axi, investors should be scrutinized the statements of the central bankers, especially for indications of a monetary policy that will no longer be quite as loose in the future. The expert does not consider a gradual increase in US yields to be a break for risky investments such as stocks. However, there are also those among the Fed governors who would rather reduce support measures sooner rather than later.
