Rotterdam restores surfaced facade text ‘Your address is Het Wonder’

Levi de Winter is born in 1908 and at a young age opens a factory in the center of Vlaardingen, called The Wonder. In 1938 he comes to Rotterdam with his wife and newborn daughter and opens a new store on Noordmolenstraat. Four years later the German occupiers put an end to it. First Levi de Winter is arrested himself, a few months later also his wife and daughter. All three are murdered in Auschwitz concentration camp.

Levi de Winter’s brother keeps the store in Rotterdam open for a long time. When he died in 1962, the building was taken over by Van Heelsbergen Textiel, which later became the international retail chain Hans Textiel.
