A Chartres gala without pros or Fendero, this Saturday, but with amateurs in the spotlight

Phone calls to the French Federation, to agents… Jean-Louis Benarab says he struggled until the last moment, even exploring avenues abroad. But the president of Chartres Boxing was unable to find substitute professional fights for the two quarter-finals of the Critérium Espoirs scheduled and which fell through for medical reasons*. It is therefore a gala solely composed of duels in educational boxing and amateur boxing which will be held this Saturday, June 25, at the Jean-Cochet hall.

Moreno Fendero will not be the headliner. The double French middleweight champion, who has already gone to Oran (Algeria), where he is preparing to compete in the Mediterranean Games, has just fallen out with the leaders of his club.

Without its local star, whom we should not see again in its colours, Boxing Chartres has chosen to bet on Tristan Brianne to close the evening. Eighth finalist in 2021 of the French championships, a competition in which he had reached the quarters in 2016, the welterweight will face Mourad Qorchi (Lorient) in a Center-Val de Loire – Brittany interregion.

Five other fights will enter into this framework, including the opposition between the Vendômois Maxandre Midoux, semi-finalist in “France”, and Sami Digherer. But Boxing Chartres will give the main role to its licensees. A total of fourteen of them will put on the gloves.

The young Thaïs Le Bihan, in silver during the last “France” of educational boxing, will be part of it. But for a small demonstration, no opponent having wanted to meet face to face for his amateur debut, postponed.

* Gary Mouhet, Drouais opponent Jonathan Bouillot, is injured, Hugo Morel, Younes Mehidi’s, underwent emergency surgery.
