Geneva: Forced early retirement for RTS seniors – Switzerland

Fifteen RTS employees, both on the television and radio sides, must retire early. The announcement was made to them in mid-January. The measure is expected to save 1.6 million francs out of a total of 14.3 million in 2020.

“The positions will not be replaced,” said Saturday Balbo, spokesperson for RTS, confirming information from the “Tribune de Genève”. The social plan, which proposes early retirement measures from the age of 58, will apply. Those concerned have 40 days to respond. They said they were very surprised by the brutality of the decision and the way it was announced.

This measure is part of the RTS savings plan, which must cut 14.3 million francs this year, mainly due to the fall in advertising revenues. A total of 22.8 posts, of which 9.4 are vacancies, are being cut. Staff savings represent 11% of the total savings. (Ps / nxp)
