Robbie Coltrane, Harry Potter actor, has died

– He was an incredible talent, completely unique, and I was more than lucky to know him, work with him and laugh the hell out of him, tweet “Harry Potter” author JK Rowling on Friday night.

Coltrane was also a comedian and writer and became famous all over the world thanks to the famous “Harry Potter” films which appeared between 2001 and 2011.

Coltrane played the role of Gygrid – Rubeus Hagrid in the original language. As a forest ranger and teacher at Hogwarts, he quickly became friends with Harry Potter.

– A lovely man

Daniel Radcliffe, who played the lead role in Harry Potter in the movies, shares fond memories with the PA news agency, describing Coltrane as one of the funniest people he has ever met.

“I have particularly fond memories of keeping his spirits up during the recording of the Prisoner of Azkaban, while we all hid for hours in Gygrid’s hut. He told stories and jokes to keep morale high, Radcliffe recalls.

– I am incredibly happy to have met him and very sad that he died. He was an incredible actor and a lovely man, Radcliffe continues.

– Unique talent

The Scottish star was actually named Anthony Robert McMillan. He was also known for the role of criminal psychologist Eddie “Fitz” Fitzgerald in the ITV drama Cracker.

For the performance, Coltrane won the Bafta TV Award for Best Actor for three consecutive years between 1994 and 1996.

Belinda Wright, Coltrane’s agent for 40 years, says the actor died on Friday.

– Robbie was a unique talent, he says. The cause of death was not disclosed, but Wright thanks Larbert Hospital in Scotland for their care.

– He will probably be best remembered for many decades to come as Gygrid. A role that has brought joy to children and adults around the world and has led to a flood of fan letters every single week for over 20 years, says Wright.

Bonding film

Coltrane also starred in two James Bond films.

– James Bond fans have also written to praise his role in “GoldenEye” and “The World Is Not Enough,” adds the agent.

Coltrane played KGB man Valentin Zhukovsky in the two James Bond films.

He is survived by his sister Annie Rae, children Spencer and Alice and their mother Rhona Gemmell.
