Roads Closure – NBC New York (47)

NEW YORK – The New York Police Department has announced a list of expected road closures and traffic delays relating to the week of the United Nations General Assembly.

Drivers should expect major road closures and delays in the United Nations general Manhattan area. The United Nations is located in 1st way y 42nd street. The use of public transport is strongly encouraged during the duration of the General Assembly.

Road closures are:

SUNDAY 18 SEPTEMBER 2022

From around 10pm, the following roads near the United Nations will be closed to vehicular traffic:

  • 1st way from the 42nd street until the 48th street (However, the tunnel underpass from 41st street As far as Street 48 It will be open)
  • 44th street from the 1st way until the 2nd way
  • 45th street from 1st way until the 2nd way
  • 46th street from 1st way hasta 2nd Avenue

The following roads will have controlled access and parking of vehicles will not be allowed:

  • 48th street from Lexington Avenue As far as Park Avenue
  • 49th Street ever since 1st way As far as 5th Avenue
  • 50th Street ever since Park Avenue As far as Madison Avenue
  • 51st street from Park Avenue As far as Madison Avenue

MONDAY 19 SEPTEMBER 2022

The following streets will have a dedicated emergency vehicle lane for the duration of the General Assembly:

  • 42nd street from 1st way As far as 5th Avenue
  • 57th street from 2nd way As far as 5th Avenue
  • 2nd way from 41st street As far as 57th street

The following roads will continue to be closed to vehicular traffic:

  • 1st way from the 42nd street until the 48th street (However, the tunnel underpass from 41st street As far as Street 48 It will be open. Trucks and other large vehicles will not be able to enter until the end of each day’s session).
  • 44th street from the 1st way until the 2nd way
  • 45th street from 1st way until the 2nd way
  • 46th street from 1st way hasta 2nd Avenue

From 5:00 am they will be closed to vehicular traffic. The area will reopen in the evening after the session of the day:

  • 42nd street from FDR guide As far as 2nd way
  • exit of 42nd street and FDR Drive input ramps

The following roads will have controlled access and parking of vehicles will not be allowed:

  • 48th street from Lexington Avenue As far as Park Avenue

TUESDAY 20 SEPTEMBER 2022

The following roads near the United Nations will continue to be closed to vehicular traffic:

  • 1st way from the 42nd street until the 48th street (However, the tunnel underpass from 41st street As far as Street 48 It will be open. Trucks and other large vehicles will not be able to enter until the end of each day’s session).
  • 44th street from the 1st way until the 2nd way
  • 45th street from 1st way until the 2nd way
  • 46th street from 1st way hasta 2nd Avenue
  • 49th Street from 3rd Avenue hasta Lexington Avenue

The following streets will have a dedicated emergency vehicle lane for the duration of the General Assembly:

  • 42nd street from 1st way As far as 5th Avenue
  • 57th street from 2nd way As far as 5th Avenue
  • 2nd way from 41st street As far as 57th street

They will be closed to traffic starting at 5:00 am:

  • 42nd Street desde FDR Drive hasta 2nd Avenue
  • 42nd Street exit for FDR Drive entrances

Note: These areas will reopen every night after the day’s session.

The FDR DRIVE will be subject to intermittent closures:

  • Heading south on 63rd Street,
  • Heading north on South Ferry

The following roads will have controlled access and parking of vehicles will not be allowed:

  • 48th Street from Lexington Avenue to Park Avenue
  • 49th Street desde 1st Avenue hasta 5th Avenue
  • 50th Street from Park Avenue to Madison Avenue
  • 51st Street from Park Avenue to Madison Avenue

WEDNESDAY 21 SEPTEMBER 2022

The following streets will have a dedicated emergency vehicle lane for the duration of the General Assembly:

  • 42nd Street from 1st Avenue hasta 5th Avenue
  • 57th Street from 2nd Avenue hasta 5th Avenue
  • 2nd Avenue from 41st Street hasta 57th Street

The following roads near the United Nations will continue to be closed to vehicular traffic:

  • 1st way from the 42nd street until the 48th street (However, the tunnel underpass from 41st street As far as Street 48 It will be open. Trucks and other large vehicles will not be able to enter until the end of each day’s session).
  • 44th street from the 1st way until the 2nd way
  • 45th street from 1st way until the 2nd way
  • 46th street from 1st way hasta 2nd Avenue

They will be closed to vehicular traffic starting from 5 am, but will reopen in the evening after the session of the day:

THURSDAY 22 SEPTEMBER 2022

The following streets will have a dedicated emergency vehicle lane for the duration of the General Assembly:

  • 42nd Street from 1st Avenue hasta 5th Avenue
  • 57th Street from 2nd Avenue hasta 5th Avenue
  • 2nd Avenue from 41st Street hasta 57th Street

The following roads near the United Nations will continue to be closed to vehicular traffic:

  • 1st Avenue from 42nd Street to 48th Street. (However, the tunnel underpass from 41st street As far as Street 48 It will be open. Trucks and other large vehicles will not be able to enter until the end of each day’s session).
  • 44th Street from 1st Avenue hasta 2nd Avenue

  • 57th Street from 2nd Avenue hasta 5th Avenue
  • 2nd Avenue from 41st Street hasta 57th Street

The following roads near the United Nations will continue to be closed to vehicular traffic:

  • 1st Avenue from 42nd Street to 48th Street. (However, the tunnel underpass from 41st street As far as Street 48 It will be open. Trucks and other large vehicles will not be able to enter until the end of each day’s session).

SATURDAY 24 SEPTEMBER 2022

The following roads will have controlled access and parking of vehicles will not be allowed:

  • 49th Street from 3rd Avenue hasta Lexington Avenue
  • 50th Street from Park Avenue to Madison Avenue
  • 51st Street from Park Avenue to Madison Avenue
