After Ricky Taylor in Free 1, it was Alex Lynn who beat the competition on the Road America track during free practice 2. The Cadillac Racing driver lapped in 1:49.321, or 253 thousandths faster than Sébastien Bourdais, also on behalf of Cadillac Racing. Filipe Albuquerque took 3rd fastest time on the Acura/Wayne Taylor Racing 319 thousandths off the lead. The top 5 is completed by Oliver Jarvis (Acura/Meyer Shank Racing) and Olivier Pla (Cadillac/Whelen Engineering Racing).
No change in LMP2 with Ryan Dalziel (Era Motorsport) again at the top of the timesheet. Juan Pablo Montoya (DragonSpeed) and Louis Delétraz (Tower Motorsport) follow in the standings. Gabby Chaves took the lead in LMP3 in the Ligier JS P320/Andretti Autosport.
The fastest in the GTD Pro class was Jack Hawksworth in the #41 Lexus RC F/Vasser Sullivan. Frankie Montecalvo, who rides in GTD on the second Lexus, finished the session at 7 thousandths.
