The Netherlands has opted for controlled distribution. Group immunity is the chosen strategy as long as there is no vaccine. That means 50 to 60 percent will get the disease. There are many questions about group immunity in particular. Why does the cabinet choose to spread the virus, while other countries opt for a total lockdown?
Van Dissel explains that the chosen strategy places too much emphasis on group immunity. He acknowledges that he may not have properly explained that himself. Group immunity is not the ultimate goal. The fact is that people will get infected. The vast majority will fight the disease with their own immune system.
