Rising Homicide Rates Linked to Drug Trafficking in Marseille

A young man in his twenties, hit by at least three projectiles in the chest, did not survive.

If the link of this new homicide with the drug trafficking which is plaguing France’s second city is established, it would be the 49th homicide linked to this trafficking committed in Marseille since the start of the year.

And this less than 48 hours after a shooting against the backdrop of drug trafficking which left two dead and three injured, two of them seriously, in a neighboring district to the north of Marseille.

These five people, three men and two women, were targeted by Kalashnikov fire on Saturday evening while they were in a vehicle in the parking lot of a McDonald’s. The two dead are a 22-year-old man, the driver, and the 25-year-old passenger who was alongside him.
