Jokowi Prohibits Officials and ASN from Breaking Fast Together

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

President Joko Widodo prohibit state civilian officials and apparatus (ASN) hold iftar events throughout the month Ramadan. It also prohibits offices and ASNs from implementing open house.

Jokowi said the trend of transmission of Covid-19 cases had improved in recent times. However, he asked the entire community not to relax the application of health protocols.

“For government officials and officials, we still forbid to do iftar together as well open house,” said Jokowi via the Presidential Secretariat’s Youtube channel, Wednesday (23/3).

Jokowi said the government was loosening a number of policies this Ramadan. Muslims can perform Tarawih prayers in congregation in the mosque.

In addition, the community is also allowed to carry out homecoming. Jokowi said travelers must receive three doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.

“People who want to go home for Eid are also welcome, it is also allowed, provided that there are two vaccines and one booster and implement strict health protocols,” he said.

The month of Ramadan 1443 Hijri will begin in early April 2022. This will be the third Ramadan since the Covid-19 pandemic hit Indonesia.

In the previous two years, the government had banned people from going home to suppress the transmission of Covid-19. The government has also limited the number of worshipers who can worship in mosques.
