has finally unveiled the official name for their upcoming fighting game project – 2XKO. Set
in the League of Legends universe, 2XKO introduces a unique 2v2 tag-fighting experience. With the game attracting
significant attention from the fighting game community (FGC) since its announcement in 2021, Riot showcased a playable version of 2XKO at EVO last year, solidifying fans’ enthusiasm for the project.
Building Upon the League of Legends Universe
2XKO is part of Riot’s broader initiative to expand the League of Legends universe. Alongside other projects such as
Riot Forge and the highly anticipated League of Legends MMO, as well as the successful Netflix animated series Arcane,
2XKO is set to further flesh out the intricate world and characters cherished by League of Legends enthusiasts.
Exciting Updates and Upcoming Opportunities
Riot Games announced their plans for 2XKO, which include exciting updates, such as a roadmap and a unique opportunity for
fans to experience the game in person. According to Tom Cannon, the game’s executive producer, the team behind 2XKO
has grown substantially, enabling the project to reach significant milestones.
The developer intends to take 2XKO on a global tour throughout the year 2024, showcasing the game to the FGC in various
events. The journey begins with EVO Japan in April, with numerous stops planned worldwide. Cannon emphasized that
attending one of these events would not be the only way for fans to engage with 2XKO, as the team plans to regularly
update fans through their official social channels and explore at-home playtesting opportunities.
Official Release Date for 2XKO
The official release date for 2XKO has not been disclosed, but Cannon confirmed that fans can expect to experience the game
on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in 2025. Fans eager to participate in the game’s development can sign up
for upcoming playtests on the official 2XKO website.
