“We are in contact with the SPKC and are taking the necessary measures. As I am recognized as a contact person, I will be in quarantine and will perform my duties remotely,” the minister said in a statement.
A similar entry was posted on the social platform by Jānis Beķeris, Press Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who was also part of the Latvian delegation during the visit of the Slovenian Foreign Minister to Latvia. Like the minister, Baker has been identified as a contact person, so he will follow quarantine and work remotely, according to his record.
Slovenian Foreign Minister Anžem Logar has already been reported to be infected with Covid-19 after a visit to the Baltic states, his chancellery said on Friday.
Slovenia has announced a partial quarantine, which will take effect on Saturday, after more than doubling the number of infections in the last week.
On Thursday, Logars returned from a three-day visit to the Baltic States, where he met with his Latvian, Estonian and Lithuanian colleagues.
The infection was discovered after a regular examination, and the Minister has not yet shown any symptoms of the disease.
