“At the end of 2019 we had 405 members. That is again 18 less than in the previous year. The downward trend is continuing rapidly, ”says Bernd Vollertsen, concerned. The chairman of the “Hüttener Feuerversicherungsverein von 1840” had already tried to acquire new members last year by lowering the premium.
At the annual meeting, which was held in the “Lindenkrog” inn, Vollertsen addressed the members: “As parents and grandparents, you can exert influence when the children fledge and move into their own apartment. A few euros for household insurance would be a nice gift. “
Advertising for insurance from the region
The trend towards shopping in the surrounding area is unbroken, why not choose an insurance from the region instead of a large anonymous stock corporation, the chairman asks. He is particularly annoyed that brokers are often called in to advise on insurance issues, who, since they do not receive any commission from the “Hüttener”, would first ban them from the portfolio.
Vollertsen, on the other hand, expressed his satisfaction with the damage balance: “Since we were able to report an annual surplus of around 4600 euros, we can grant our members a premium refund of ten percent.” Welcome 21 members. The honorary chairman Paul Wichmann, who died in January, was remembered as part of the ceremony. Wichmann was active on the board from 1983 to 2004, including 18 years as chairman of the “Hüttener Feuerversicherungsverein von 1840”.
