In the occupied territories “referendums” are held, but even creating at least a semblance of an expression of will is not very successful.
In the occupied territories of the Ukrainian regions of Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporozhye and Kherson, Russia has begun its attempt to organize a cheap imitation of “referendums” on “membership of the Russian Federation”. At the same time, the occupiers do not fully control any of the regions.

There is not even a shadow of legitimacy in the action initiated by the Russians. On the other hand, there are extras brought from Crimea and the Russian Federation, collaborators and armed soldiers of the occupation army, who go door to door with the Ukrainians and force them to “vote”.
A reaction
The results of the illegal “referendums” on the accession of the occupied regions of Ukraine to the Russian Federation will not be recognized and new sanctions will be the response to their taking, said the foreign ministers of the G7 countries and the European Union.
“Any” referendum “does not in any way prejudice the actions planned by our General Staff and the headquarters of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief to unblock the Ukrainian territories … Our counter-offensive is not yet over. We still have the key indications: Southern, Zaporozhye. An extremely important symbolic direction is Luhansk-Donetsk … In general, I believe that in order to bring the end of the war as close as possible, it is Donetsk and Luhansk that must fall. As soon as these cities come under the control of Ukraine , we will be able to say very clearly on the calendar when the war will end with our total victory, “says advisor to the head of the presidential office Mikhail Podolyak.
Effects
The Security Service of Ukraine, together with the Attorney General’s Office, identified more than 4,000 people involved in organizing pseudo-referendums in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
“More than 4,000 representatives of enemy groups, traitors and collaborators have now been identified, who should be involved in organizing illegal plebiscites in the territory of the Lugansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions,” the SBU said in a statement.
Among them are the Russian security forces, their accomplices of the local “MVD” formed by the occupiers, and the heads of the so-called “territorial electoral commissions”.
According to the SBU, the units of the National Guard and the military police of the Russian Armed Forces should provide “protection” for pseudo-votes. Collaborators from the occupation administrations and private security structures controlled by the special services of the Russian Federation were also sent to “help” them.
It was reported that the security forces collected identifying data on all organizers of illegal activities, established their places of residence and movement routes, and also documented criminal actions.
For all these facts, criminal proceedings have been initiated pursuant to part 2 of art. 28, part 5 of art. 111-1 (collaboration activity) and part 2 of art. 110 (violation of the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code.
