Food scandals: a look back at recalls in 2019

In January 2019, Bell Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG recalled a “Zimbo” onion sausage. One sample was contaminated with Salmonella detected. With poisoning, customers can suffer from diarrhea, abdominal pain and vomiting.
Aldi recall: hard cheese contained chips of wood – three people died of Wilke sausage
There was also another one in March 2019 recall. Wood chips were contained in a hard cheese. The cheese was at penny sold. There was an Aldi recall in July 2019. “Trader Joe’s” fried onions contained pieces of metal in some packages.
In October 2019, it turned out that listeria was repeatedly found in the sausage from the meat manufacturer “Wilke”. In healthy people, the bacterium can cause flu-like symptoms. If you have a weak immune system or are pregnant, you can even die from it. So there was one recall. So far, three people have died of the sausage. “Wilke” has filed for bankruptcy.
