Review: Burnout Paradise Remastered Switch-versie

We can hardly imagine it, but you may Burnout Paradise have never played. The original appeared as early as 2008 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Two years ago the remaster was released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and if that’s not enough, there is now also the Burnout Paradise Remastered Switch version. We have driven around in Paradise City for a few hours and can inform you that the game has made no concessions in terms of racing fun.

The game is still as good as it once was. Of course it feels a bit outdated in some areas, because games like Forza Horizon 4 in Grid have spoiled us reasonably. For example, there is no rewind function and the card is also quite small. Especially the latter is more present than usual when you play in handheld mode. This can be especially frustrating when trying to find the right route in a race from one side of the city to the other. If you miss a turn during your ride because of the small card, you can not fast rewind. These are minor drawbacks that you really should not call negatives, because the game comes from a different time.

Graphically it is not very spectacular, but we did not expect that given the limited processing power of the Nintendo Switch. It looks about as good as the version for the PS Vita. Fortunately, this game is a good example that “graphics about gameplay” never really applies, because there is a lot of fun to be had with this game. It all runs smoothly and the loading times are not disturbing. That only applies to the handheld mode, because when you want to play it on the TV, it looks a lot less and it all goes a bit less smoothly.
