Rescued fox cub that had stuck its head in a cardboard tube – NRK Nordland

On the way home from his parents-in-law, the Sandnessjøværingen Knut-Bjørnar Klaussen noticed something funny on the side of the road.

They were a few hundred meters from Stokka Airport.

– At first we thought it was a cat that got in the way. But it looked damaged.

– When we got closer we saw a strange animal with a Pringles can on its head.

They stopped the car and got out, and then they saw what it was – a fox cub.

– It was a special sight. It went crosswise on the asphalt, says Klaussen.

It was the local paper in Sandnessjøen who first mentioned the matter.

Wet and dirty

The fox cub was wet and dirty, but fortunately there were no signs that it was emaciated.

Klaussen got hold of the poor man.

Knut-Bjørnar Klaussen.

– I held him tight and got the box off his head, then he ran into the forest. Fortunately, he seemed healthy, says Klaussen, who is happy that they discovered the fox cub before it was hit or disappeared into the forest again.

– Fortunately, it was spared the torment.

– People should know better

Klaussen is no longer impressed by the person who threw the rubbish away.

– In 2022, people should know better than to throw a Pringles can into nature.

– But you constantly see along the road that people pull both one and the other out of the car window.

And he is right about that.

In the interior alone, 32 tonnes of rubbish were picked up along the roads last year, writes Hold Norge Rent in one press release.

And it is not only wild animals that can be harmed by the rubbish.

In 2020, 1,457 cattle were diagnosed with the digestive disorder “kvast”, which is the result of sharp objects going astray and ending up in the animal feed, it was revealed in a debate post in nations.
